Who it suits
Neudorf stretches for over 3 km along the Alzette valley, sandwiched between the wooded slopes of Cents and Weimerskirch. It's residential and multilingual, historically home to Portuguese, Italian and more recently Balkan communities. It suits travellers wanting cheap sleep with reasonable transit access, and anyone with an early flight, since bus 29 runs directly to the airport.
It doesn’t suit anyone wanting a walkable old-town experience. Neudorf itself has no monuments to speak of, dining is modest, and reaching Ville Haute means a 20-minute bus ride through Clausen.
Price and connections
Small hotels and pensions at 95-140 EUR. The Ibis Styles Luxembourg Centre Gare is not here despite its name; genuine Neudorf stays tend to be family-run.
Walkable: Portuguese cafes and grocers on Rue de Neudorf, the trails up into the Kalchesbréck woods, and the small chapel of Saint-Michel. Bus 29 takes 6-8 minutes to the airport and 15 minutes the other way to Gare via Clausen.
