Grund sits 70 metres below the plateau on the banks of the Alzette, reached by a free public lift from Ville Haute or by walking down the ramparts. It suits repeat visitors, couples, and anyone who values evenings over convenience: the Scott's Pub terrace, Big Beer Company and the Neumünster Abbey courtyard concerts are all here. Photographers love the early-morning fog on the river.
It doesn’t suit anyone with mobility issues or heavy luggage — the lift closes at 2am and the alternative is a steep 15-minute climb. It also doesn’t suit business travellers heading to Kirchberg, who’ll waste 25 minutes each way.
