Who it suits
Belair, west of Ville Haute across the Pétrusse valley, is where diplomats and bankers live. Streets are wide, villas are large, and the Parc de Merl-Belair gives it more green space per resident than anywhere else in the city. It suits travellers who want quiet nights and a residential feel, joggers using the park, and anyone with a car — parking is easier here than in Ville Haute.
It doesn’t suit sightseers on a tight schedule — you’ll walk 20 minutes or bus in for anything historic. It also doesn’t suit anyone wanting a lively evening; restaurants close early and there's no nightlife.
Price and connections
The Parc Belair and a small handful of guesthouses cover most stays; doubles run 150-220 EUR. Rates are similar to Limpertsberg but with less walkability to the old town.
Walkable: Parc de Merl-Belair (the city's biggest park), a few upscale bistros around Place de France, and the Villa Louvigny grounds. Ville Haute is 20-25 minutes on foot or 8 minutes on bus 12. The Cactus supermarket on Route d’Arlon is a stop for self-caterers.
