Mondorf is the actual thermal town

Skip the marketing fluff on random city hotels. Real thermal water in Luxembourg comes from one place: Mondorf-les-Bains, on the French border. Mondorf Parc Hôtel (€169 a night) is directly connected to Mondorf Domaine Thermal, with 36°C sulphurous water and a full spa complex. Access is bundled into most rates. It's a proper spa-town experience — nothing else in the country matches it.

City spas that actually deliver

In Luxembourg City, Le Royal on Boulevard Royal (€251, indoor pool, sauna, hammam) is the polished option — bankers use it, so book weekends. Sofitel Kirchberg (€208) has a smaller but well-run wellness area. Hotel Parc Plaza (€147) is the value pick with a legitimate pool. Melia Luxembourg on Kirchberg (€173) rounds it out. Outside the capital, Hotel Théâtre in Esch (€121) surprised me — new build, proper sauna.

Countryside spa options

For a castles-and-gorges weekend with a soak at the end, Hotel Parc Le\'h in Dudelange (€113) and Hotel-Restaurant Cocoon Belair (€130) both have modest wellness rooms. Serious spa-seekers should just base at Mondorf and drive out for Vianden and Echternach day trips — 45 minutes each way, and you sleep in thermal water.
