The real airport hotels
Doubletree by Hilton Luxembourg is 400 metres from the terminal with a free shuttle and generally the best of the lot — proper restaurant, decent gym, quiet rooms. Hampton by Hilton is the newer budget option right next door, cheaper and perfectly adequate for a night. Park Inn by Radisson is one tram stop away in Kirchberg and often prices better than the two Hiltons. Ibis Luxembourg Aéroport is the true budget pick — 500 metres, no frills, works.
None of these have particularly interesting food or atmosphere. They are transit hotels and they know it. The Doubletree bar is the only one with any life on weeknights.
Should you actually stay at the airport?
Usually no. The tram from Findel to the city centre takes 15-25 minutes, is free, runs from 05:00 to 01:00, and drops you in Kirchberg or continues to Gare. If your flight is not before 07:00 or after 22:00, sleep in the city. You get better food, actual streets, and the same commute time as an airport shuttle.
Airport hotels make sense in three cases: pre-06:00 flight, post-23:00 arrival, or a layover where you do not want to unpack twice. In those cases, Doubletree is worth the €20-€40 premium over Ibis for the shuttle and the sound insulation. If price is everything, Hampton is genuinely fine and often €95-€120.
Questions, answered
Is there a shuttle from the airport hotels?
Doubletree and Hampton run free shuttles. From Park Inn and Ibis you take the free tram (1 stop) or walk 10-15 minutes.
Can I walk to the terminal from these hotels?
Yes from Doubletree, Hampton and Ibis — 5-10 minutes on marked paths. Park Inn is further and the tram is easier.
