1. Chemin de la Corniche. Called the most beautiful balcony in Europe and it's not marketing — you look straight down onto Grund, across to the Rham casemates and up the Alzette. Best 30 minutes before sunset. 2. The Bock promontory itself, one level higher and looking the other way, taking in Clausen and the ridge to Kirchberg. 3. Place de la Constitution by the Gëlle Fra, for the classic postcard view over the Petrusse viaduct and the Adolphe Bridge.

4. The Pfaffenthal panoramic lift's upper platform — you don’t have to take the lift down to enjoy the free view from the top. 5. The Rham plateau at the eastern end of the Wenzel Walk, looking back across the valley to the old town skyline; almost no tourists come up here. 6. Mudam's roof terrace on clear days, giving you Kirchberg's forest of glass towers against the old town in the distance. Honourable mention to the Adolphe Bridge itself at night, when the Petrusse valley lights up below.

Sunset from the Corniche (facing east, the light hits Grund and Kirchberg); sunrise from the Rham plateau, looking west across the valley at the old town catching first light.
Any paid viewpoints worth it?
No. Every view listed here is free, and the Pfaffenthal lift is free too. The city genuinely doesn’t gate its best sight lines.
