1. Domaines Vinsmoselle Caves de Wellenstein, the largest cooperative on the river and the easiest introduction — good tour, wide range, weekend tastings without booking. 2. Bernard-Massard in Grevenmacher, the country's biggest crémant producer, with proper cellar tours in the traditional méthode traditionnelle caves and a river-facing tasting terrace. 3. Domaine Alice Hartmann in Wormeldange, small, serious, riesling-focused; book ahead, and expect to spend money on the good bottles because they’re worth it.

4. Caves St Martin in Remich, built into the cliff so the cellars are naturally cool — the tour is more interesting than the wine, honestly, but the setting sells it. 5. Domaine Sunnen-Hoffmann in Remerschen, organic since the 1990s and one of the few producers making genuinely interesting pinot noir on the Luxembourg side. 6. Krier-Welbes in Ellange-Gare, family-run and off the main road, worth the detour for the pinot gris. If you only have one afternoon, Bernard-Massard plus Wellenstein covers the crémant-and-riesling basics.

Do I need to book tastings?
Vinsmoselle and Bernard-Massard run scheduled tours you can turn up for on weekends; the smaller domaines (Hartmann, Krier-Welbes, Sunnen-Hoffmann) want a phone call or email in advance.
How do I get there without driving?
Bus 175 runs from Luxembourg City to Remich in about 40 minutes. From Remich you can walk to Caves St Martin; for anywhere else on the river you’ll want a taxi or the seasonal Princesse Marie-Astrid boat cruise.
