1. September. Warm days, cool nights, harvest along the Moselle, the wine festivals in Grevenmacher and Schwebsingen, and Mullerthal foliage starting to turn by month's end. The single best month. 2. June. Long light until 10pm, National Day on the 23rd with fireworks and free concerts, Fête de la Musique on the 21st, cafés spilling into every square. 3. May. Lilac and wisteria in Grund, the Octave pilgrimage brings the country to the capital, and the tourist crush hasn’t started. 4. October. Vineyards gold, castle photography peak, Vianden's chairlift still running to Halloween.
The rest
5. December for the Christmas markets, especially the Wanteroopdag opening weekend, but expect grey skies and 4pm sunset. 6. April, unpredictable but Easter markets and daffodils. 7. July, hot and quiet as locals leave for holidays; Blues’n Jazz Rallye takes over Grund and Clausen mid-month. 8. August, similar to July with the Schueberfouer funfair from late month. 9. March, still cold but Invitation aux Musées weekend opens everything. 10. November, wet and dark until markets start. 11. January and 12. February are the low point — cold, grey, castles closing. Come only if you want the city to yourself.

When is peak tourist season?
Mid-June through August plus the December market weekends. Even then, Luxembourg never feels overrun the way Bruges or Prague do — hotels get booked, but the streets stay walkable.
What about weather?
Highs are around 23°C in July, 15°C in April and October, 4°C in January. Rain is spread across the year; there's no dry season. Pack layers even in summer because valleys like Grund get cool at night.
